Florian Kühnert

Bachelor Honour's Student

Florian is currently in his third year of the bachelor’s program of Psychology at Radboud, in which he is participating in the Brain & Cognition domain. Within the SENSe lab, he is currently conducting his honour’s thesis together with Prof. Dr. Harold Bekkering, Lieke van Lieshout and Dr. Olympia Colizoli. The topic of the thesis considers the interaction between autonomy or self-directed learning and rewards and their effects on memory performance. During parts of the project, Florian is assisted by master student Tony, whose sister-project employs the same basic paradigm in an fMRI study.

In addition to cognitive psychology, Florian is the Coordinator of a committee supporting and raising awareness of LGBTQI* rights and is working towards raising awareness to the struggles faced by (adult) children of alcoholics. Within this, he is working together with several forms of media to normalize this topic and make it the content of public debate. He enjoys public speaking and has hosted several formats at a local TV station. He was also already involved in a project on experience-based pupil dilations as indicators of prediction errors in 2019 and 2020 under the supervision of Dr. Olympia Colizoli and Prof. Dr. Harold Bekkering.
